Located in the rural landscape of the northern tip of the island of Chiloe, the Senda Darwin Biological Station features fragments of remnant temperate forest dotted across a patchwork of grassland, agricultural plots, and exotic tree plantations.
The station’s ecological research programme was launched in 1996 and focuses on the study of forest recovery in the wake of human and natural disturbances, and the responses of wildlife populations and ecosystem services to changes in climate and land use.
